They Shall Mount Up with Wings Like Eagles- chalaph |Strength #7|

"This is a Mexican Axolotl. You may recognize this face as the poster animal of this blog, but the Mexican axolotl hasn’t been spoiled by fame. This hard worker not only can make copies like Xerox—regenerating a missing limb; tail; and parts of their brain, heart, and lower jaw—but it’s a favorite study subject among scientists...

If they’re paralyzed in the back they can recover the functions of their legs … They can make all new neurons and new connections that allow them to use their legs again, which is really one of the most incredible examples of recovery.”

-National Geographic-

Reading about the Axolotl makes me wonder how can this animal be able to recover so quickly. Yet here I am on a Monday morning again. Tired and lethargic🥵. After an exciting weekend, I labor onto the week wishing the weekend will come soon. All the while trying to lift my spirit by entertainment, food, exercise, etc. Yet all my effort have fallen short, and I still feel tired😔. How can I stay motivated and on fire again?

"On Eagle's Wings"

Michael Joncas

"Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted;
but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:30-31 ✝️🦅✊

What does this mean? The meaning is that unfortunately life is always difficultly depressing, and yes everyone gets tired😱. But during days like these what can we do to motivate ourselves? The answer is not inside us. But only through Jesus Christ do we have a renewed strength🕊️. The keyword here is too 'renew'. This comes from the root word:

chalaph (khaw-laf')

a primitive root; properly, to slide by, i.e. (by implication) to hasten away, pass on, spring up, pierce or change:--abolish, alter, change, cut off, go on forward, grow up, be over, pass (away, on, through), renew, sprout, strike through.

Similar to the example of the Axolotl, we sometimes forget that even if we are missing a limb, even if parts off our bodies are severed, or when we are tired, limping, or hurt, we are also able to renew/chalaph/regenerate our weary souls in Christ. To pass on the old and to hasten with the newer change and quickly at that. For me, I always look towards Jesus. Even though sometimes I fail, I know that it is the right discourse. And to a lesser extent all those before me rise up in moments of downcast such as king David. They immediately sought the Lord. They bent their knees and prayed for mercy and grace. They understood His grace is always sufficient. And that His power is made perfect in their weaknesses. To pray. And to wait on the Lord. Trusting in His faithfulness and covenantal promise for their lives.

Reflection

Dear Lord, thank You for giving me hope time after time. Please chalaph my strength again today. Uphold me with a willing spirit to rise up once more. Just like the Mexican Axolotl and like the Eagle, I renew my soul by Your strength. During dark fatigue days like these it's hard. And yet You have reminded me O Lord that:

Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God. Psalm 43:5 🤲🤗👑

By faith, I choose to place my trust in You again because even in my darkest days, Your light shines brightly.

And one day, I will again praise You. One day I will again soar the skies like an eagle. To run and not be weary. To walk and not faint. For You are with me always. You are my portion. My strength. My rock. My salvation and my God. I praise You my Lord Jesus Christ and humbly ask for Your strength once more . . . In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
