But now my eyes sees You; My soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices.. |Media #2|

Updated: May 31, 2021

The night sky looms over the horizon

A starry night casts out from the heavy rains

The wind swifts from east to west

A cricket buzzing its melody in the background

The waters crash their waves on the river bank

A frog croaks hidden in the bristles

The distant wind breezes ever so quickly

A time for every season, a moment for every time

The radiant night lights brimming in brilliance

I have always wondered “ears that cannot hear and eyes that cannot see.”

And yet; I had heard of You by the hearing of the ear, but now my eyes sees You,

Wonderful are Your works, my soul knows it very well...the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to the saints.

Thank You Jesus..

A few days ago I started reading the Gospel of Luke. It's quite interesting how Luke reveals Mary's story. I never truly agree of how some religions/faiths would uphold Mary to be divine or even acting as an intercessory role as the Queen of Heaven. Here is an interesting article by desiringGod if you would like to know more. Anyways, I digress. I learned that Mary did play a pivotal role in the Gospel as the mother of Jesus Christ and as a model disciple.

From Luke chapter one, what really struck me the most is her humility in knowing of her pregnancy of Jesus. Any normal person would boast or even forgotten about God, yet Mary didn't do that. In Mary's Song of Praise: The Magnificat, Mary instead worships:

And Mary said,
My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed; for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name. Luke 1:46-49 🔍

The word "Magnificat" in Latin means- magnifies. Here Mary is magnifying (to extol or gratify) the Lord. Why? Because she knows how that all generations after her will be blessed by Christ... When I was reading this, I thought to myself: when was the last time I am able to be humbled at the greatness of the Lord? To rejoice in reverence and awe in knowing His grace?

And so, today's post is about worship. As I see my previous post last year, I can't but be humbled at those moments. When I was sitting at the night sky as any other time- my eyes opened. As Job would say, "seeing" God for the first time. In the most common of settings, marveling at the Lord's greatness. That was and is always there...

When we lift up and see the stars, we take it for granted how grand everything falls into place:

Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these? He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name, by the greatness of his might, and because he is strong in power not one is missing. Isaiah 40:26

As Isaiah writes, not one of those stars are nameless. God knows them by name, creating everything in unison and grandeur. Not one star missing or lost in His sight... Similarly, when I was at my spot looking into the night sky. I always remembered off David. Who writes in the Psalms:

When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. Psalms 8:3-5 🤗

I have always wondered why Jesus would say to be like children. And yet, in my journey in knowing Christ, I finally understood it... Just like David, let's not take for granted our lives. To see life again for the first time, a blessed life. In purity and innocence. Being thankful in all things. And rejoicing in worship. At the works of His hands playing a role in the seen and unseen.

The majesty of the heavens. How the moon in its gravitational orbit provides rest in the day. How the supernova off the stars radiates through vast distances of space. How the gravitational laws of the universal constants would be "randomly" arranged likely so to ensure an equilibrium off the forces. All pointing to the fact off our minuscule existence in comparison to all this. We are but a speck in the universe.. And yet. Why? Why does the Lord, all powerful, grand, and able mindful off us? In His great mercy He still cares to know us. To redeem us. To be our God. In all this, His grace is truly breathtaking.

Reflection

Dear Lord, thank You. For the starry night sky poem that ties into the previous summary of Job 38. How sometimes the best answer is knowing that having our God so great and majestic is enough to pull us through any moment off our lives. In moments off tribulations or even moments off ease help me to remember:

A time for every season, a moment for every time

The radiant night lights brimming in brilliance

Despite it all, the radiant night shines brightly always off Your glory. Writing this poem has been a blessing. Words and knowledge that flows through me is only by Your grace. To know that a God so great would love me so is mesmerising. Lord, thank You for all those before me who stood in faith. For Job who finally sees You in his once blind life, for Mary who rejoices at Your blessings, for David who revels in Your creation of the heavens, and for Jesus who brings it all together in completion. Thank You Jesus for this moment off worship. Help me to see You in everything, to be thankful, to rejoice, and to magnify Your glory in my life.

Wonderful are Your works, my soul knows it very well...the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to the saints.

Soli Deo Gloria!~ In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
